Given the fact that there are many people who are always starting internet businesses by creating online sites, I figured I would make a site informing people about my experiences as a new online business and how I did website promotion for my online business using search engine placement and search engine submissions.

In short, about two years ago I decided to launch a website that sells supplies for salon professionals. So, I did what most people who are starting online businesses do and I built the best website I could think of, hoping that the good design would generate sales.

However, to my surprise, I was not getting any traffic to my site and hence I was not making any sales. Therefore, I started looking for ways through which I can get more traffic to my site, because I figured more visitors to my site would help me get more sales.

Having discovered that a good website does not translate in to high traffic, I did what most people do and I started advertising my website using pay per click services provided by the major search engines. Mind you, that at this point the concept of search engine placement was completely unheard of for me.

After the first month passed, I did a quick analysis of my website advertising efforts and saw that I had spent thousands of dollars and had not generated the kind of traffic I was looking for. Therefore, I started researching the web for alternate methods of getting more visitors to my website.
